So finally!! I watched PINK
yesterday. Yes, every penny worth the rave reviews it has received. That it was
a dark and intense movie did little to help me sleep the night and hence I was
glued to the television till wee hours of morning.
Presume it was a destined to be a
dark night. From the disturbing intensity of the movie I was absorbed in the
worrisome Indo Pak affairs. Till yesterday night I had been a big advocate of
waging a war against the Ivy league of terror, Pakistan. I am glad the dark
night ultimately led to some light of wisdom. War is terrible. It is killing
and it is against the ethos of mankind. Yes, a new order emerges but then after
some years the cycle repeats as is evident in case of India and Pakistan.
Interesting thing to note is the change…which is temporary till the next war happens.
Much is at stake for a war to take place today. Nuclear weapons will wipe out
entire civilizations.
Is there an alternative? Yes,
nothing in the world has been absolute. Look inside. Cure within. Make peace. A
long lasting efficient solution to all the woes of the world is to breed better
human beings. Beings with humanity and vision and not shallow material lusting
mortals.
Long shot but movies like Pink
give the message. Wage a war, but wage it against inequality, wage it against hypocrisy,
wage it for all those who cannot fight for themselves, wage it for future
generations, wage it for respectl. We need
to correct our visions. A war is needed on every human being pointing a finger
at someone else. Reminds me of my parents here. At times when out for dinner
with them they would keep staring at a young couple holding hands, or a young
girl smoking by herself. For them these were signs of moral turpitude. I would
often have to change seats with them to save the poor subjects from death by
stare. But I don’t blame them in entirety. The world is doing it and they are
just one of them. We fail to realise we are part of the same society which is
quick to point fingers for trivial things. Unknowingly we follow suit, without
realising the harm we are causing. We give excuses for our daughters but do not
spare a chance to taint someone else’s. And no these are not double standards.
Most of us do not even realize the cost of our actions. This is dangerous.
Imagine a world where everyone co exists peacefully. The
seeds need to be sown now in every child’s mind. Peace and unity are non
negotiable. You don’t go around burning houses just because you don’t like your
neighbours. You don’t kill humans because they are from other religions.
We were not born to be Indians or Pakistanis or terrorists
or armymen. We were born to be human. Idealist this may sound. But it is
practical and possible. All we have to do is ignore the territories and
establish a common code of conduct. War is no solution. It is a stop gap
arrangement till someone pulls the cord again. Sons die, fathers get killed,
wives become widows, Children loose childhood. Nothing is won expect some
massaged egos and short lived cease fires. Dead do not have countries, they
only have bereaved souls left around.
It is time for all of us to introspect if we are doing
sufficient as humans or are we animals in human skins. Reminds me of Kabir’s
couplet
बुरा जो देखन
मे चला बुरा
ना मिलया कोए
जो मन खोजा
आपना मुझसा बुरा
ना कोय
We need to unite now in our commitment of becoming little more
human every passing day till a brighter sun rises on the horizon. And for
those who disagree -
हंगामा खड़ा करना
मेरा मकसद नही
कोशिश है की
सूरत बदलनी चाहिए
Came across this today. "Real equanimity doesn’t come by sitting on the fence. It arises as you keep accepting the dares life keeps offering you. Step into experience and grow. Be careful not to mask your fear with a polished spiritual persona. Let your rough and ready bits show through."
